Attached is a copy of a modified ICS-213 form suitable for use in Ham EmComm message handling over voice channels. Please keep a copy of this in your go-kit and, if possible, take several spares. If necessary keep your original and be prepared to use blank paper in this format to help standardize message transmission.

Posted by electrocality as Training at 8:50 AM MDT
The attached file is a PDF version of a document that gives some great insight into the future of the Winlink 2000 system. In particular there are considerations given to the nature of Winlink’s use for EmComm purposes. It is going to evolve quickly and test our region-wide capabilities as opposed to localized capabilities as has been the case in all our past drills. Get your go-kits ready, folks!

First there’s a long-overdue review of the Kenwood D7A(g) Handi-Talkie. I don’t have a clue why it took them about 6 years to review a radio that’s been on the shelves since 2001, but it’s a good review nonetheless. Though they refer readers back to the original Kenwood D7A review from 2000 for general specifications on the radio, they go into some depth talking about the upgraded (g) features which are really for packet and APRS use anyway.
